Leadership Lunch & Learn – May 16

Topic: Generation “THEM” – Managing a Multi-Generational Workforce

Presenter: Chris Atkinson, GenWHY Communication Strategies

Generational Diversity is one of the significant issues HR managers of all levels face on a daily basis. With approximately half of the current US population under 33 years of age and 50% of executives expected to retire in the next ten years, organizations must begin putting a plan in place to attract and retain top talent. If turnover is taking up more of your budget than you would like or you’re just not exciting younger employees, then you NEED to hear this presentation from genWHY. You will laugh out loud while you learn about the different perspectives of each of the generations and find that Generation “THEM” is actually Generation “US.”
Attendees will be able to:
  • Identify all four generations currently in the American workforce
  • Name two strengths and two needs for each generation
  • Gain a skill set to motivate and manage employees

About Chris: Born and raised in Jamaica, Chris transferred his passion for speaking to the states at 17 years old when he was accepted into the Junior Statesman of America Program at Yale University. He walked away with the best speaker award during his attendance and vowed one day he would “speak for a living.”  He has spent the past seven years proudly serving in the Alabama National Guard, including two deployments (Afghanistan and Kuwait). Through every job he has held in the military, from military police to engineer to a mechanic, there is one job he excels at — motivating others. Chris has led and learned from every generation during his time as a Sergeant and has a unique view of generational differences as someone who was raised outside of the United States, but works in the United States. (Chris’s #1 passion is his motorcycle, though. Don’t let him tell you any differently!)
