Huntsville, May 4, 2016 — The Women’s Business Center of North Alabama (WBCNA) along with BizTech and AL.COM presented the 1st Annual Entrepreneur Awards today and Laura Huckabee-Jennings, Founder and CEO of Transcend, was named WBC Entrepreneur of the Year. The award is given to an outstanding female entrepreneur in the North Alabama Region and the winner is submitted to the Small Business Administration’s Small Business of the Year Award National Award. Several other awards were presented, including Entrepreneur Champion of the Year, which was presented to Huntsville Mayor Tommy Battle.

“I’m humbled to have been chosen,” said Huckabee-Jennings. “There were so many great entrepreneurs present, today. This is a huge honor.” WBCNA President and CEO Joanne Randolph said, “Not only has Laura grown her own company as a successful entrepreneur…the leadership development work she does helps other entrepreneurs achieve success.”

WBCNA held a two-day Entrepreneurial Summit as part of Innovate Huntsville, a week long event designed to educate, inspire and engage entrepreneurs. The awards luncheon was the culmination of the Summit and was created to recognize outstanding entrepreneurs from the Huntsville and surrounding areas, as well as to bring more visibility to local organizations who serve entrepreneurs.
